1. Overview

Hourglass is a focus protection app developed by Huanelia Studio. It helps users create app groups, schedule protection, start protection on demand, apply hard locks or time limits, and review focus activity. Hourglass does not require a separate Huanelia Studio account for its core features. If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is available for Hourglass, supported Hourglass data is synchronized through your private iCloud account so your configuration and focus history can stay consistent across your Apple devices.

2. Information Stored by the App

Depending on the features you use, Hourglass may store App Group names and Apple-provided Screen Time selections, protection schedules, start and end times, repeat days, modes and strictness settings, Protect Now sessions, Focus History records, early-unlock reasons you choose to submit, appearance and app preferences, and synchronization metadata used to keep supported records consistent across devices.

3. Screen Time and Family Controls

Hourglass uses Apple frameworks including Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity to provide app selection, shielding, schedules, and usage-limit behavior. App and category selections are handled through Apple’s Screen Time APIs. Hourglass receives Apple-provided representations needed to apply the protections you configure rather than requiring you to create a separate Huanelia Studio account for Screen Time functionality.

4. Usage Limits

For configured time limits, iOS can notify Hourglass when a Device Activity threshold has been reached. Apple does not provide Hourglass with a continuously accurate live countdown of remaining app-usage minutes, so Hourglass does not claim to provide one.

5. Notifications

If you allow notifications, Hourglass may send local notifications about protection starts, warnings, usage-limit thresholds, and endings. Notification permission can be changed in iOS settings.

6. Local Storage and iCloud Sync

Hourglass stores the data needed to operate its protection features on your device. Hourglass also uses Apple CloudKit to synchronize supported data through the private iCloud database associated with your Apple account when iCloud is available.

Data that may be synchronized includes App Groups and their Apple-provided Screen Time selections, schedules and time-limit configuration, Focus History, submitted early-unlock reasons, appearance and protection preferences, and deletion information needed to keep records consistent across devices.

This synchronization is provided through Apple’s iCloud infrastructure. Hourglass does not operate a separate Huanelia Studio account system or a separate external server for this synchronization. Some runtime-only protection state may remain device-local because it is needed for Screen Time enforcement on that device.

7. Data Sharing and Third Parties

Huanelia Studio does not sell personal data and does not use Hourglass data for advertising or tracking. Apple system services may process information required to provide iCloud and CloudKit synchronization, Screen Time, Family Controls, notifications, App Store distribution, backups, and other operating-system features according to Apple’s own terms and privacy policies.

8. Early-Unlock Reasons

If you choose to submit a reason for ending eligible protection early, that reason becomes part of your Focus History and may synchronize through your private iCloud database together with the related history record. Entering a reason is part of the early-unlock flow, so avoid including information you do not want stored with your Hourglass history.

9. Data Control

You can change or remove Hourglass configuration from within the app. Deletions of synchronized records may also be synchronized so the same records can be removed across your devices. Removing the app or changing iCloud availability may affect what remains available on a particular device or through your iCloud account.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Hourglass changes. The “Last updated” date above will be revised when material changes are published.
